It is dubbed in Odia and telecasted as 'Laxmi Pratima' in Colors Odia Plot summary [ ] Lakshmi Baramma is the story of a small town girl, Lakshmi (Lachi), who escapes her cruel family through an inconvenient marriage to a man named Chandan and her struggles thereafter. Chandan is a 26-year-old bachelor who is the owner of a successful multinational company. Parvathi, Chandan's widow mother, means the world to him but she is against love marriages. She wants a daughter in law who will not just love Chandan but will also be a part of all the highs and lows in his life – she wanted a girl with a golden heart. While Lachi was the girl who fit every quality in Parvathi's checklist, she was the illegitimate daughter of Mahadeva whose family treated her as their slave.

The only love she knew came from her grandmother. In order to save Lachi from her cruel step-family, Chandan unavoidably marries her at the plea of her grandmother.

Chandan's entry in her life would have meant a new lease of happiness but even that was taken away from her. While on the way to Chandan's hometown, Lachi finds out about Chandan's love for Shruthi.

In order to repay him for his kindness, she runs away from Chandan so as to not interfere in his life. While roaming about, a thief deceives her and steals all her jewelry and money. While getting hurt in the process, Lachi is admitted to a hospital where she meets Shruthi, not knowing that she is Chandan's girlfriend. Shruthi, finds her long lost sister in Lachi and takes her home. As time moves on, fate leads Lachi into Chandan's home to take care of his mother, without either one recognizing their existence and identities. Soon, Chandan's friend, Siddharth, arrives as a partner to his company.

He gradually falls in love with Lachi, with the hope that he can be the husband she never will have. When he finally confesses his love, Lachi rejects him, breaking his heart. Around this time, Chandan figures out that Chinnu is actually Lachi. Shruthi finds half of Chinnu's marriage photo and tries to find Chinnu's husband. She goes to Chinnu's village, Doddarasinakere, to meet Chinnu's family and find out whom she married.
